Our purpose is to, through the power of our community and the individuals within it, improve the world - primarily through our arts and the ideas expressed therein.
Based on this purpose, we will do the following:
December 20th Update:
Completed Goals
• Increase discussion about writing, our first art, to 100 posts.
• Create a section for "Other Arts" and encourage enough interest in each art to warrant their own section of the forum.
• Restructure the forum to reflect our goals and plans
• Increase aesthetic value of the forum by upgrading look and feel and built-in display pictures
Incomplete Goals (pushed to new date of Feburary 15th)
Expand the group to have 20 members with 50 or more posts - currently we have 10 members that fit this qualification
• Recruit by asking friends to get involved (not happening)
• Create a recruitment guide (Not Done)
• Discuss topics from the "questions" and "discussion topics" thread (Has been done a few times, more can be done)
• Create forum games that encourage quality posts (made area for games)
• Require staff to post seven times per week in non-staff areas; at least one time must be posting a new thread (requirement has been made - has been broken)
Goals to be tossed out
• Discuss groundbreaking logic and virtue, such as those of great philosophers. (cheesily said, doesn't need to be in here, but is being done)
• Find or develop rubrics by which to evaluate intellect, virtue, and forum structure for goal-planning (Nothing like this needed at this time - too small for any meaningful help to be done)
This is our starting point for goals, but we need you to direct us. Feel free to comment to this thread.
------------------------------------
The Next Goals
These are ideas for goals to come after we achieve the current ones. If we create those rubrics, we'll identify many ways to improve.
o Recognize quality threads and posts once a month, especially those: with compelling, innovative arguments on provocotive issues; which address moral issues in a spirit of unified exploration and look to the heart of issues; and those that suggest ideas for action by members that have a positive moral consequence.
o Have staff advertise through MySpace, forums, and other methods
o Start to create guides or presentations to teach about theories in each art, issues of moral concern and personal moral systems, our personal theories or approaches to our art, and methods of intellectual inquiry. This information would then be used to fuel discussion, resulting in further inquiry, and deeper conclusions.
