This week, I viewed an interactive experience with digital images and animation. It's Getty Images "10 Ways" project--ten characteristics of images that demonstrate the power of visual images. I think it's amazing. For this thread, I want to focus on my favorite of the ten, Truth. You can select it from the two on this page: www.interact10ways.com/usa/less_rain.aspFive different people can look at the same image and look at it in different ways. It can evoke a completely different meaning for each person. Writing can do the same thing. Because of this, we should stop and think about the different ways our audience can perceive our work. Ever tried to express sarcasm in an IM and it didn't work? Same thing. This thread has room for improvement: How can we look from multiple perspectives? I need the input of all of you, but here's a couple of ways that help me when I'm editing: * Take a long break from your writing * Do something different from your usual activities to put yourself in a different mindset: -- talk to different people (especially in different ways or about different things 2) -- walk a new route -- crawl around instead of walk! -- wear heels and see things from a taller perspective 1Others? ---------------------- Here's the link to the index page. Feel free to use one of the other "10 ways" for a thread of your own =D www.interact10ways.com/usa/index.asp---------------------- Contributions: 1. Eliflauta -- her methods of doing things differently. 2. Dangerjane -- talking in different ways.

Along with your second point but a little bit different, during school I try to talk to different people and take different routes to classes. Everything seems fresher, and this may sound insane, but everything's a slightly different color. That's probably because my eyes are messed up and then the new routes have different shadows that I'm not used to, but anyways...yeah. Also, if I need to slip into a new perspective in a pinch and my brain is stuck, I get on my hands and knees and crawl around the house, or I get out my sister's 4" heels and walk around for a while. It does the trick to opening my eyes to new angles.

Thanks Eliflauta! I updated the thread to include your suggestions. I especially like the crawling one =D

Sometimes I dance around to class. I don't know if I'm doing this for the new perspective, though. More like for the reactions, just so I can say HA! I'm dancing to class and you're miserable! HA!
I dunno. I think maybe right now I'm just happy. Right now being not just this moment--just lately. I'm happy. I guess a sad phase is coming sometime and also an angry one. Who cares if I'm happy now, though?
Uh sorry for the off topic.
Yeah, I like to talk to a lot of different people and I say strange shit to them for no real reason. I like to talk to random freshmen. You know how most freshmen looove to talk to seniors for whatever reason? So they flock to me because so many seniors couldn't care less about their existence. I guess that's sort of giving me a different perspective, right? Talking to random people??
