A crowd was about to stone a prostitute when suddenly Jesus appeared and proclaimed, "Let He who is without sin cast the first stone!" An angry voice from the crowd replied, "Jesus Christ! You always want to go first!" Source: someone's comment on an article about the Last Supper going digital, news.aol.com/story/_a/da-vincis-last-supper-goes-online/20071028112409990001?ncid=NWS00010000000001-------------------------------- -------------------------------- That made me giggle *and* think. Is Jesus implying that even he has sin, or that he's the only one allowed to condemn? O.o

I am one who thinks that even Jesus has sin. However, in order for him to do the work he did, he needed to not mask that part of himself, but distance himself from his past. My belief is that he reasoned his work was above himself, and therefore was able to distance himself from his previous self. That sort of stuff is loosely represented, I believe, by the conviction it would take, in the story, to survive in the desert for forty days, then be tempted by the devil. The devil, then, would be the world of early desires he previously was a part of, but has to deny in order to do work.
As for the crowd, I believe that is trying to prove a point about hypocracy, not actually trying to imply that someone should throw a stone. I think he is using his own experience and knowledge of people to determine that anyone who would want to throw a stone at someone like that (I assume a sinner), would have sinned themselves. Doubtless the shame he's invoking in people would not allow them to respond with such a witty comeback.
Just my thoughts ^_-
