I recently came up with an excercise that is good for getting in that writing groove. Instructions: Find another writer. Set a time length with them that you can both agree to write for. For that time. Write. Seriously. Put everything out of your head and write. By this I mean: - You will not stop to contemplate your navel.
- You will not look out the window.
- All in all, you will not stop to check for mistakes, you will just create. No correcting the mispelling! Just write. Let if floooow.
When you're done, talk to the other writer about what you wrote. Or don't if you don't feel like it. But you can resume talking... so you can agree to do it again, because it's just that damn effective. And fun.

Have you tried it? How well has it worked?

Yes. Actually Oliver and I tried this first and I have since done it with some other writers and I find it very effective for getting stuff done.
But that's me.

Works really well. You can pick something apart without being too critical, because it's first draft stuff, and you can see how the writing process is for someone, if you also understand what their final draft writing looks like.

And the other part is that is doesn't have to be long to be effective. Even 15 minutes can be effective.

Yep. I got 500 really good words done in 20 minutes. Well, Oliver can tell you if they were really good

My writing style is different--I plan, rather than "flow." However, I think I can plan even as the other person flows ^_-

Wow impressive. I'm not doing nano, never have...lol. I'm such a slacker. This is a sweet exercise and I'd love it if I was a nanoer

I'm not a planner. I'm very much a flow with the go.
And yeah. I feel that this place merits a nano thread if we don't have one already. We actually have something very similar to this called word wars and it's where you do this same thing, only your goal is to get more words than the other person.
So far, I haven't met someone who can take me. One of my friends took me, but I won both times tonight.
