I just saw a show on the History Channel that went through the history of how Christmas was celebrated. In a few portions it stated specifically how writers had "filled the gap" on various portions of the meaning of Christmas, through such works as The Christmas Carol and "The Night Before Christmas". And in the case of Charles Dickens' novel, it appeared almost as if he intended to answer that question about what the meaning of Christmas should be.
These kinds of things interest me... because it sure seems that in many cases in life our perceptions have been shaped by writers.
So how do you do this sort of thing? And what would you, today, bring meaning to? What subjects need it, at least to you?
This is not just about the meaning of your book, but what it connects to through writing.
